Our Material Promise

Everything we sell is made from 100% solid natural wood — never particleboard, never MDF, never plywood or surface veneer pretending to be timber.

This is a simple promise, but it is the one that matters most, because it is the one customers cannot verify from a photograph.

Why It Matters

Most furniture sold today is engineered board with a printed or paper-thin veneer surface. It looks convincing when new. But it cannot be sanded, cannot be refinished, swells permanently if it gets wet, and once a screw strips out of chipboard the joint is finished for good.

Solid wood behaves the other way round. A scratch can be sanded out. A tired finish can be stripped and reapplied. A joint can be re-glued. A piece that looks worn after ten years can be brought back rather than thrown away.

What "Solid Wood" Means Here

• Solid throughout — the timber you see on the surface continues through the thickness of the piece
• No hidden substrate — we do not face chipboard with a thin layer of real wood and call it wooden furniture
• Honest description — where a component is necessarily made differently, such as a drawer bottom or a cabinet back panel, we say so on the product page

Natural Variation Is the Feature

Because we work with real timber, no two pieces are the same. You will see:

• Grain variation — from tight and straight to wild and figured, depending on where in the tree the board came from
• Colour range — heartwood and sapwood differ in tone, and the same species varies between trees
• Knots and mineral streaks — the record of branches and growing conditions
• Live edges — where we keep the natural profile of the tree, each edge is genuinely one of a kind

Our photographs show a representative example. The piece you receive will share the same design, dimensions and finish, but the grain will be its own. This variation is not a defect and is not grounds for return — it is the reason to buy solid wood in the first place.

Wood Moves

Timber is hygroscopic: it takes on and gives off moisture with the seasons, and expands and contracts as it does. Small seasonal changes are normal and expected in a solid wood piece. Keeping furniture away from radiators, air-conditioning vents and prolonged direct sunlight keeps that movement to a minimum.

Finishing

Our pieces are hand-finished to protect the timber against moisture and daily use while leaving the grain visible and the surface still feeling like wood rather than plastic. Furniture is also treated to help resist termites and moisture.

Caring for Your Piece

• Clean with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth
• Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents and abrasive cleaners
• Wipe up spills promptly rather than letting water stand
• Use mats or coasters under hot and wet items
• Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from heat sources
